And the winner is……..
Sunday November 7 2010 I had the honour of judging the riding portion of the 2010 Miss Rodeo Canada competition along side Cranna Roberts, Dee Butterfield and organizer Brooke Robertson, who is a past Miss Rodeo Canada. I have been fortunate in the past to have judged other events similar to this one such as the Calgary Stampede Queen contest. I can appreciate the pressure that these girls are under, and in spite of that pressure all five contestants performed very well.
This years five contestants are (in left to right from picture) Britnie Mcknight, Miss Williams Lake Stampede, Carolynne Vallee who is Miss Bonnyville Pro Rodeo, Miss Rodeo Okotoks Kezia Morrison, Nichole Campbell who is Miss Rodeo Maple Creek, and Kirsten Braumandi who is also known as Miss Williams Lake Stampede. All of the girls rode their horses to the best of their abilities yesterday. The competition consisted of two reining patterns, in which the contestants had to use a different horse each time. Then a flag run where the contestant is judge on their run, expression and correctness of holding our great maple leaf. A run around the arena doing the queens wave, and one impromptu question. I am excited to see who the next Miss Rodeo Canada is this weekend after these girls get put to the test on all kinds of topics.
The current Miss Rodeo Canada “Brittany Foster” was the M.C. of the event. I must say that this cowgirl has class, touted as one of the most famous to ever win the pageant
Brittany will be a tough act to follow. A great speaker, rider, and ambassador to our nation Brittany will definitely be missed after she passes on her crown.
Keep your eyes peeled for the results of the Miss Rodeo Canada pageant during the Canadian Finals Rodeo in Edmonton, Alberta this week and weekend. With so many exciting performances going on that you just cant miss!
